His hand glides along my chin
An outline of my lips made by his thumb.
I see the concern clearly on his face,
I know he wishes to bear my weakness.

But I'm left speechless; unable to calm
the raging storms which come alive while I'm sleeping.
(and it seems I have been sleeping
For far, far too long...)

“Can you breathe?”
I open my mouth to respond
But find no air.
My eyes widen, struck by fear.

I see the curve of his smile even in the dark.
The warmth of his hand, pressed against my heart.
Paralyzed, unable to move, I watch
As he brings my hand to his lips.

“Do you need to?”
The question strikes me queer.
I want to nod my head vigorously
But find myself saying no instead.

His laugh is only a faint echo in my mind,
As he guides me closer by a tug of his hand.
There's a comforting warmth,
Though I don't know where it comes from.

“Let me inside so I can ease the pain,”
My eyes speak the words I cannot say.
“Like this.”
He tilts my head back and meets my lips with his...

“Where do you feel me?”
And I finally am granted speech
Though only a whisper
“Everywhere.”
