Literature Text

They are asking me to describe you, again,
And like before, the words hang desperately
against my tongue. I spurt and splutter like a fountain
in a barren Alaska, still frozen, not quite thawed.
Uncharted terrain near unpredictable waters,
open to discoveries and exploration, yet unsure
of the ice possibly hidden beneath the snow.

[why do their eyes have to be so judgmental?]

Days seem much longer when there is some(one)thing missing.
How does one describe the sensation of breathing without
the use of suffocation? How does one color the mind with touches
of heaven to those who have never experienced clouds in their hands?
Have you touched fog? It's like embracing a ghost—whirling about
you with a phantom-like sensuality.

[how do I describe the longing for your touch?]

Have you seen this smile before? Rake your mind for recognition.
The question reflected in those absent eyes state the answer.
The smile on this face is genuine. With very little effort, it blooms,
And I can shine despite the negativity because these shoulders no longer
bear the weight of the world, alone. With one graceful step, he's
holding me close, like no one has before.

[would they believe me if they said I could fly?]

Remember those endless nights of uncontrollable tears? Oh wait--
They wouldn't because they were never there. When my knees,
drawn up to my chest, my breath ragged, rocking back and forth,
like an infant, searching for the comforting grace of a cradle, I was alone.
Until he came along. Until you came around. Took my hand,
Told me no matter what, you'd be here.

[while they broke promises, you never did]

The breath from barely parted lips brushing against my skin,
reminds me that to some(you)one, I am beautiful. I've never been beautiful
to myself until I found him (or he found me). He told me to love myself,
treat myself, find happiness within. He'd do anything for my smile.
He'd remind me every day of the reasons why he loves me.
But, the look in his eyes says it all.

[but how do I tell that to them?]

Expecting eyes ready to ridicule, I bite down on my  tongue,
longing to speak, but knowing the words will fall short,
because the dictionary has yet published a word,
a poet has yet to write a line,
which captures the happiness, the joy, and love
you so easily bring to my life.

[i'm still stunned, but will they understand?]

They are asking about us, again.
And like before, I'm smiling in silence,
my skin warmed by a southern sun,
where once upon a time, a man was born,
destined to change a sad girl's life,
and remind the world, that no matter what,
true love is very much alive.

[if you happen to see him,
and trust me, you'll know if you do,
can you pass along a message?
                            That I love him, too.]
write about one of the most influential person in the year 2008.
though, there were a few.
one stood out in my mind the most.

for the one who taught a hidden heart about love.
who unleashed a small girl inside a woman
to find joy in everyday
and smile.

also, entering in `Flutterings's contest
so I get to share the influence
with others.
